Ganderbal, June 27: The Macadamization work on old Sonamarg road is almost complete and is likely to be reopened before commencing the Annual Amarnath Yatra.
Apco infratech Private Limited company responsible for the construction of 6.5 Km Z Morh Tunnel is also involved in constructing a road between Shutkadi to Sonamarg and the work on this road is going on since last year.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir DGM Apco Infratech said the macadamization work between Shutkadi to Sonamarg has been going at full speed for the last two weeks and it will likely open before Amarnath yatra starts.
He said that reopening the road would facilitate pilgrims as well as those associated with the trade in Sonamarg.
The traders body based in Sonamarg expressed satisfaction and said that construction work on this road has been going on for the last one year due to which the vehicles were being left from the bypass road to Sonamarg which had a lot of impact on the traders’ business in Sonamarg.
