Reasi, May 06: Police on Saturday apprehended an absconder in Reasi district who was evading arrest since 2017.
Gurbachan Singh, son of Baldev Singh, resident of Bhabber, Dera Baba in district Reasi, absconding since 2017 in a case FIR No. 156/2017 U/S 48(a) Excise Act of Police Station Reasi has been arrested by a police party of Police Station Reasi, a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
He said the arrest was made by PSI Rakshat Singh and SHO Reasi Vijay Sharma under the supervision of DySP HQ Reasi Neeraj Padyar-JKPS.
‘The accused person evaded arrest by disguising and changing locations and couldn’t be apprehended since registration of the FIR against him,” the spokesperson said, adding, “During the investigation, the case was proved and a chargesheet produced against him in a court of law in 2017. The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Reasi has issued a general warrant of arrest against him.”
Reasi Police has resolved to leave no stone unturned to put hardcore and long-absconding criminals to justice by arresting and producing them before the respective courts for judicial determination of their cases and trial under the laid-down procedure of the law of the land, the spokesperson said.
