Srinagar, Dec 16: The J&K Health & Medical Education Department, J&K has revoked the ban on private practices of two doctors from the Government Medical College Baramulla on the recommendation of an inquiry committee constituted in February this year.
In February this year, two doctors: Dr Zafarullah and Dr Shafaqat Ahmad Lone both Assistant Professors in ENT department of GMC Baramulla were banned from private practices
As per the order of the Health Department, there were allegations against the doctors regarding the referral of patients from public to private hospitals for availing treatment/benefits under AB PM-JAY & AB PM-JAY SEHAT Scheme.
“On the recommendations of the inquiry committee which has been accepted by the competent authorities, it is, hereby, ordered that the ban imposed by the Department in respect of the two doctors is revoked with immediate effect,” the H&ME said in an order.
The decision comes after a comprehensive examination of the allegations or concerns that led to the initial prohibition. The inquiry process involved a detailed assessment of the doctors’ professional conduct and adherence to ethical standards.
The doctors have been warned not to indulge in luring patients from public to private hospitals for availing treatment/benefits under AB-PMJAY & SEHAT Schemes etc. for any occasion in future when the same are available in government health institutions.
“Otherwise, disciplinary action as warranted under rules shall be initiated against them without any further notice,” the order said.
