Srinagar, Feb 01: The much-awaited Sufi musical project, ‘SOOR’ was released by RAWAAN ORIGINALS on Saturday in a ceremony in Srinagar.
The project is produced by Faisal Bhat, along with Peer Idrees and Danish Khan. It aims to showcase the rich heritage of Kashmiri Sufism through a compelling story set in the 1900s.
Speaking about the project, Faisal Bhat, the producer and singer of SOOR, told Rising Kashmir that they have been working on this project for the past one year.
“The shoot was completed last year, and after a long wait, we are proud to release it now. Many people were eagerly anticipating it, and it is rewarding to see it finally come to life,” he said.
About the title, Bhat said that the title SOOR holds deep meaning, as it derives from a lyric in the song: Arz-o-samaan wuchim barman lolik gaman korman soor, where SOOR translates to ‘ash.’
“The name signifies the truth that nothing in this world is permanent. This concept deeply resonated with me, and that’s why I chose it as the title,” he said.
Bhat further said that song carries numerous hidden messages, which may be interpreted differently by the audience. It is a motivating story that I have personally experienced and tried to portray. I read a story from a diary in the song, which truly inspired me,” he added.
About the challenges during the SOOR, Bhat said they faced countless. Challenges and the entire project took a year to complete, and every step came with obstacles. However, overcoming them made the journey even more meaningful, he said.
“We have created something truly unique, and I want people to see the effort behind it and appreciate the essence of Sufism portrayed in a different way,” Bhat said.
The song has been released on RAWAAN ORIGINALS, with the project produced by Faisal Bhat, Peer Idrees, and Danish Khan. It is now available on multiple audio platforms, including Spotify, Gaana, and more
