Srinagar, July 15: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir President Ravinder Raina on Monday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to announce the assembly election dates in the union territory without delay.
“After BJP’s spectacular victory, we are now preparing for assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir,” Raina said, adding that the party is ready and confident.
“Just as the BJP achieved a remarkable win in the recent parliamentary elections, the party expects to secure a similar outcome in the assembly elections, positioning itself to lead the next government in J&K,” he added.
Raina said there is a growing support base for the BJP in the region and expressed optimism about winning a majority in the upcoming elections.
A party leader echoed this sentiment, saying the strong performance in the parliamentary elections has invigorated the party’s confidence and eagerness to replicate that success in the assembly polls.
By advocating for early elections, the BJP aims to capitalise on the current favourable political climate, enhancing party morale and projecting an image of inevitable victory.
Sources indicate that the Election Commission is actively preparing for the assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring all necessary processes are in place. Other political parties have also joined the call for timely elections, reflecting a broad consensus on the need for a swift electoral process. (KNS)
