Baramulla, Feb 21: The Baramulla district administration is all set to organize a snow festival at the picturesque MundDaji area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Officials said that the festival will feature sports activities and exploration of the hidden treasures of the area, with the aim of showcasing the natural beauty of the region and putting it on the tourism map.
The area is located around 35 kilometers from the Baramulla district headquarters, and features lush green pastures and crystal-clear water stream.
Local residents of MundDaji are optimistic that the event will boost the local economy by engaging unemployed youth and drawing in tourists to the area.
They believe that the Rafiabad area has tremendous potential to emerge as another major tourist destination in Kashmir, following in the footsteps of Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
The snow festival will feature sports competitions including snow cricket, snow skiing, sledge riding, snow volleyball, horse riding, tug of war besides ATV riding.
