Youth drowns at Sawjian tourist spot in Poonch

Poonch, July 20:  A tragic incident occurred on Sunday in the Sawjian area of Mandi Tehsil, district Poonch, where a 20-year-old youth drowned in a river near the picturesque Satraban waterfall. The deceased has been identified as Akashdeep Singh, son of Gardeep Singh, a resident of Khakha Navan, Poonch.According to details, the young man had gone for a picnic with his brother and a few friends to the Satraban tourist destination in Sawjian.While bathing near the waterfall, Akashdeep reportedly slipped and fell into the river. Despite immediate efforts by his brother, friends, and local residents to rescue him, they were unable to save him, and he tragically died on the spot.Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the spot.After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family.Police have taken the matter seriously and initiated further investigation.
