Samba, July 21: In a spirited effort to spread awareness about a drug-free lifestyle, the NCORD Cell of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba, in collaboration with the Sports Committee, Monday organised a series of sports activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on the college premises.A statement issued here said that the events included a Lemon Race and a Kho-Kho match, drawing participation from nearly 45 students. The aim was to promote physical well-being, team spirit, and awareness against drug abuse among the youth. Dr. Papinder Kumar, Nodal Officer of the NCORD Cell, and Dr. Pankaj Bandhoira, Convener of the Sports Committee, led the initiative. Prof. Meenakshi Thakur, Co-Convener, along with other staff members, ensured the smooth conduct of the events.The college principal, Prof. Twinkle Suri, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and encouraged the continuation of such meaningful activities. She emphasised the institution’s commitment to maintaining a drug-free and healthy campus environment. In the Lemon Race (Boys category), Deepak Kumar, Arun, and Rohit—all from the 3rd semester—secured the first, second, and third positions respectively. In the Girls category, Ritika, Rupali, and Anjali clinched the top three positions. Team A triumphed in the Kho-Kho match, taking the first place. The initiative reinforced the message that healthy competition and active participation in sports can be powerful tools in the fight against substance abuse.
