Baramulla, July 05: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Baramulla Police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered a total of 170 grams of charas-like substances in two separate operations under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tangmarg.As per a statement issued, in first operation, a police party of police station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg intercepted a Maruti van at a checkpoint. During the search, 84 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from two individuals identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Sultan Parray resident of Druroo and Mohd Shafi Lone son of Gh Mohiuddin Lone resident of Gund Maqsood. A case under FIR No. 42/2025 was registered at PS Tangmarg.In a separate naka operation, another person Riyaz Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of Ratnipora was apprehended and 86 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. A case under FIR No. 43/2025 was registered at the same police station.All three accused have been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to trace other individuals involved in the drug trade. Baramulla Police reiterates its commitment to a drug-free society and appeals to the public to cooperate by reporting any drug-related activities in their areas, police said.
