Jammu, Oct 15: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and former minister, S Manjit Singh has demanded fast-track recruitment drive in villages along the International Border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua Districts in defence, paramilitary and J&K Police.
The former minister raised this demand while addressing a meeting at Ramgarh. The meeting was organized by the District Samba President, Legal Cell, Apni Party, and Adv Sahil Bharti.
In this meeting, various issues were discussed regarding development, formers issues, border area development, especially growing concern about unemployment among the educated youth in the border belt and drug addiction.
In his speech, Manjit said that the people are mostly concerned about the increasing unemployment among the border youth who have completed their studies but there seems to be no scope for employment.
“The border youth often join defence forces, paramilitary and JKP. However, these recruitments have not happened for them for a long time, and the aspiring youth are becoming overaged with delay in any kind of recruitment in the belt forces,” he said.
He demanded that the government should organize special on-spot recruitment drives for the border resident youths in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts to provide an opportunity to them for recruitment.
“These youth are the future of J&K and the country. Therefore, their concern must be taken seriously because the issues of drug peddling and drug addiction have increased which is highly alarming for the locals, respective parents and the police because the addiction often leads to criminal activities, snatching and theft incidents,” he said.
He added, “There is a need to take a serious review of the situation to ensure the youth can be provided an opportunity of employment and accordingly, other linked issues can be redressed.”
Meanwhile, he said that the damage to the basmati rice harvest should be compensated by the authorities after a proper survey and the KCC loans of farmers should be waived off. He said the people have expressed their faith in the leadership of the Apni Party and its leadership under Syed Altaf Bukhari.
