Srinagar, Apr 29: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday paid tributes to noted scholar, Hazrat Moulana Syed Qasim Shah Bukhari (RA) on his 26th death anniversary, to be observed on the first day of the Islamic month, Dhu al-Qadah.
In a statement issued here, Dr Abdullah said, “Bukhari Sahib had a long-standing association with the party founder Sher-e-Kashmir, who had a high opinion of his scholarly acumen and spiritual standing as well.”
He said, “Kashmir has been an alcove of great saints and sages, who have brought laurels home through their labour in the field of Quranic learning, Hadith and Tasawuf; Hazrat Qasim Shah (RA) was one among them. He commands a position of repute in the star-studded galaxy of such sons of the soil of Kashmir. Besides teaching numerous scholars and students, Hazrat Bukhari Sahib is also credited with numerous illustrious works in the field of Islamic theology and Tasawuf. May Almighty elevate his stations in Jannat. On his death anniversary, I pay my earnest tributes to him.”
NC vice president & Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in his tributes to Hazrat Qasim Shah (RA), recalled the immense contribution of the late scholar towards Islamic learning and theology.
“Remembering noted scholar, Sufi, preacher, writer, journalist and president of Anjuman Tableegul Islam, Allama Syed Qasim Shah Bukhari (1910–2000) on his 26th death anniversary. He remains a renowned religious figure in our valley, standing out as unparalleled in all aspects of Islamic theology and jurisprudence even years after his passing. May Allah ( SWT) elevate his stations in Jannat,” he said.
Omar prayed to the Almighty to elevate the late scholar’s status in Jannah.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq and Omar Abdullah greeted people at the annual Urs observances of Hazrat Syed Saleh Khan (RA) of Khan Sahib Budgam and Hazrat Baba Hyder Reshi (RA) of Anantnag. The duo prayed that the day augurs well for Kashmir and brings everlasting peace and prosperity to the lives of people.
