JAMMU, Nov 06: Three persons were killed, while seventeen were injured in a tragic road accident on Monday afternoon when a Tempo Traveller they were traveling in fell into a deep gorge in district Rajouri of Jammu region.
The unfortunate incident occurred near Rehan area of Rajouri when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve. As a result, the ill fated vehicle carrying passengers fell into a deep gorge.
The Tempo traveller was on its way from Koteranka towards Rajouri and the accident occurred when the vehicle was around 12 kms away from Rajouri.
Three seriously injured persons were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, for advanced medical treatment.
“Three critically injured in the Rajouri accident were brought here at GMC-Jammu for advanced treatment,” Assistant Medical Superintendent, GMC-Jammu, Dr Bharat Bhushan said, adding, “All are stable and are undergoing treatment”.
Those undergoing treatment at GMC-Jammu are Vanshu, wife of Jagdev, Kirna Devi (age 30), Jagdev (37 years).
Earlier, soon after receiving the information about the accident, the rescue operation was launched by Police with the help of locals and all the injured were shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC), where three of them were declared dead.
LG condoles loss of lives in tragic Rajouri road accident
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the loss of lives in the tragic road accident in Rajouri today.
“I am deeply shocked to learn of the unfortunate road accident in Rajouri today, in which precious lives have been lost and many others have been injured. I send my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and wish those injured a speedy recovery. I have directed the district administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected persons,” the Lt Governor said.
