Jammu, Nov 19: A condolence meeting organized by Natrang and the Doordarshan Approved Drama Artists Association (DADAA) at K.L. Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre Complex, paid rich tributes to Late Suresh Kumar, an eminent theatre and television artist of Jammu and Kashmir.
The event witnessed a significant turnout of theatre, television, and film artists who gathered to honor the life and legacy of Suresh Kumar, renowned for his exceptional contribution to the arts over decades. Participants laid floral tributes as heartfelt speeches highlighted his remarkable journey.
Natrang Director Balwant Thakur, while paying his homage, described Kumar as the “soul of Natrang,” recalling his 32-year-long association with the group, during which he performed in over 3,000 shows. “His dedication, enthusiasm, and passion for the arts were unparalleled,” Thakur said, adding that Kumar’s memorable performances in plays such as Bawa Jitto, Mahabhoj, and Saiyan Bhaye Kotwal will inspire generations.
Mohan Singh, another speaker, emphasized the lessons younger artists could draw from Kumar’s unwavering commitment to his craft. Ravinder Kaul and Arvind Anand lauded his sacrifices and supportive nature, with Anand calling him a “finest human being” and a source of strength for many.
Janak Khajuria, who conducted the program, shared anecdotes about Kumar’s multifaceted talent, noting his four-decade-long portrayal of Ravana in Ram Lila performances. J.S. Balli, President of DADAA, expressed deepest sympathies and prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace.
The event was attended by notable personalities, including Vijay Verma, Romalo Ram, Lalita Tapasvi, Sumeet Sharma, and Vikrant Sharma, among many others, reflecting the profound impact Suresh Kumar had on the artistic fraternity.
