DHSK prepares robust healthcare system for Amarnath Yatra routes

Srinagar, June 11: Director Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK), Dr.Mushtaq A. Rather convened the Divisional Yatra Health Coordination Committee to enhance healthcare services along the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. The meeting, directed by Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, J&K, Dr. Syed AbidRasheed Shah, included various stakeholder departments involved in delivering healthcare during the pilgrimage.
A spokesperson for DHSK stated that the meeting commenced with a detailed presentation from DHSK, providing an in-depth overview of the healthcare action plan for the upcoming Yatra. “The director laid emphasis on the importance of coordination among various stakeholder departments for an efficient and foolproof healthcare delivery system,” he said.
Key topics discussed included inter-sectorial coordination to ensure smooth functioning of the healthcare system during the holy pilgrimage. The meeting’s agenda focused on the current status of infrastructure, medical facility setups along the Yatra routes, and medical arrangements for pilgrims by different agencies.
The meeting also addressed emergency coordination with the health department, deployment of medical teams, inventory of medical supplies and equipment, emergency response protocols, coordination with local hospitals, air evacuation plans, communication between the health department and other stakeholders, and the establishment of a real-time information-sharing platform. Regular coordination meetings were also highlighted as crucial.
“The director highlighted the new initiatives and innovations which were appreciated by all the officers present at the meeting. The aim and objective of such initiatives is to further strengthen healthcare services enroute both Pahalgam and Baltal axis,” he added.
Attendees included Brigadier Medical 15th Corps, Commandant 92 Base Hospital, CMO Anantnag, I/C CMO Ganderbal, Medical Superintendents of B&J Hospital and Police Hospital, I/C MS DH Ganderbal, Assistant Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dy. Medical Superintendent SKIMS MCH Bemina, and officers from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), SashastraSeemaBal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Office In-charge Yatra Unit DHSK, and Nodal Officer Yatra (Baltal/Pahalgam).
