Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship: J&K Boys crowned national champions, girls secure runners-up position

Agra, May 20: The T-20 Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship (Boys & Girls) concluded in Agra (U.P.) from 17th to 19th May, 2023, with the J&K Boys team emerging as the national champions. The J&K Girls team also displayed an impressive performance, finishing as runners-up in the tournament.
The J&K Boys team showcased their dominance throughout the championship, remaining unbeaten in all their matches. In the thrilling finals, they faced off against a formidable U.P. team, winning the toss and electing to field first. U.P. set a target of 57 runs on the loss of 7 wickets. The J&K Boys, displaying exceptional skill, chased down the target in just 3.5 overs without losing a single wicket, securing a historic victory and claiming the T-20 National title for the first time in the history of Tennis Ball Cricket.
The J&K Girls team also exhibited remarkable performances, reaching the finals of the national championship. However, it was the Tamil Nadu team that lifted the coveted title in the girls’ section. J&K finished as runners-up, falling short by 16 runs in the final match.
In the girls’ final, Tamil Nadu set a challenging target of 87 runs, losing 6 wickets in the process. The J&K Girls team fought valiantly but could only manage to score 72 runs before being all out. Despite their loss, the girls demonstrated commendable skills and determination throughout the tournament.
Among the standout performers from the J&K teams, Miss Midhat Jan, captain of the J&K Junior Girls team, showcased exceptional skills and led her team with great determination. Mr. Ubair Lone of the J&K Junior Boys team proved to be a key player, scoring 56 runs in the finals. He was declared the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance and was also awarded the Player of the Tournament for his consistent excellence throughout the championship.
The T-20 Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship witnessed fierce competition and showcased the immense talent and potential of young cricketers from across the country. The J&K Boys’ remarkable victory and the impressive performance of the J&K Girls team have left a lasting impact, inspiring aspiring cricketers and creating a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir in the world of Tennis Ball Cricket.
