Five drug peddlers held in Kulgam & Baramulla

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 05 drug peddlers in Kulgam & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession. 

In Kulgam, a police party headed by In-charge Police Post Navyug Tunnel Qazigund during its routine patrolling near Navyug Tunnel Qazigund intercepted a suspicious vehicle (Santro) bearing registration No. CH03R-3855 with 04 persons onboard. During search of the vehicle, 830 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered. They have been identified as Sher Aalam Khan son of Nawab Khan & Sohail Ahmad Khan son of Shahzad Ahmad Khan, both residents of Dadoo Marhama, Anantnag, Ashraf Ali son of Noor Mohammad resident of Dandal Udhampur and Makhan Lal son of Hans Raj resident of Ossu Udhampur. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.     

In Baramulla, acting on a specific information that one person namely Zubair ul Islam son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar resident of Tantraypora Palhallan Pattan has hoarded narcotic substance at his residence house. Accordingly, a Police party of Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan along with concerned Magistrate raided the specific location. During search of the house, 9.2 Kgs of Grinded Poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered and seized in presence of Magistrate. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
