During last 4 years Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a remarkable transformation across various sectors, ushering in a new era of development and prosperity. From infrastructure upgrades to socio-economic reforms, the region has witnessed significant advancements, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and holistic development.
One of the cornerstones of this transformation is the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, which has provided free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh to every individual in Jammu and Kashmir. With more than 83 lakh Ayushman cards issued thus far, healthcare accessibility has drastically improved, ensuring the well-being of the populace.
Furthermore, the surge in tourism, with 2 crore 11 lakh tourists visiting the region in 2023, marks a historic milestone, reflecting newfound confidence and interest in exploring the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. This influx of tourists not only boosts the local economy but also fosters cultural exchange and global engagement.
Access to clean drinking water is fundamental to public health, and Jammu and Kashmir have made significant strides in this regard, with more than 75 percent of households now receiving clean drinking water. Additionally, the construction of over 1.73 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana underscores the government’s commitment to providing affordable housing to all segments of society.
Job creation and entrepreneurship have thrived in the region, with over 30 thousand government jobs and 656 startups registered in the last four years. This not only empowers the youth but also drives economic growth and innovation, laying the foundation for a vibrant and dynamic economy.
The successful organization of events like the G20 summit and the Amarnath and Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Yatras highlights the region’s growing prominence on the global stage and its rich cultural and religious heritage. Moreover, infrastructural development, including the construction of the world’s largest railway bridge and the expansion of the National Highway, signifies a commitment to connectivity and accessibility.
In the medical sector, the establishment of two AIIMS, seven new medical colleges, and other healthcare facilities underscores efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure and delivery. This, coupled with investment proposals exceeding Rs 90 thousand crore and the creation of 4 lakh new employment opportunities, underscores the region’s potential as an investment destination and engine of growth.
Crucially, the restoration of property rights to women and reservations for marginalized communities demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and social justice. Empowering women and providing opportunities for marginalized groups are essential steps towards building an inclusive and equitable society.
As a beacon of hope and progress, Jammu and Kashmir has not only witnessed tangible development but also symbolic gestures of unity and peace. The absence of incidents like stone pelting and the proud display of the tricolor symbolize a newfound sense of security and patriotism.
