Srinagar, July 05: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has invited complaints from residents and whistleblowers regarding alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the Union Territory.The communique follows the formation of a House Committee by the Speaker during the Budget Session 2025-26, after several legislators raised concerns over financial discrepancies, the use of substandard materials, and the laying of HDPE pipes in violation of norms. There were also allegations of payments being made for non-existent works.The House Committee, which met on May 22 and June 20 in Srinagar, reviewed records from the Jal Shakti Department and decided to seek public feedback to verify these allegations.It said that residents, whistleblowers, and stakeholders can now submit signed complaints related to non-provision of tap water connections, incomplete or abandoned projects, substandard materials, or any form of mismanagement under the JJM.The deadline for submitting complaints has been set 15 days.
