Jammu, Mar 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday revealed that there are still 320 teacher positions, 78 lecturer positions and 66 master posts unfilled in the Ramgarh constituency.
Responding to a question from MLA Devinder Kumar Manyal during the Assembly session, the minister responsible for school education said that a total of 1,334 positions have been sanctioned in the Ramgarh constituency, of which 1,014 have been filled, leaving 320 vacancies.
“Specifically, 348 master positions have been sanctioned, with 282 filled and 66 remaining vacant. For lecturer roles, 277 have been sanctioned, with 199 filled, resulting in 78 vacancies. Additionally, there are 2 principal positions and 12 headmaster roles currently unfilled in the Ramgarh constituency,” the minister said.
The minister said that there is no shortage of teaching staff in the schools of District Samba, noting that the overall Pupil-Teacher Ratio (PTR) in the district stands at 10:1”. Furthermore, a designated sub-committee has been established to recommend the introduction of new streams and subjects in the 38 Higher Secondary schools. Requests for new subjects in various Higher Secondary Schools are directed to this committee, chaired by the Director of School Education, Jammu, for the purpose of developing guidelines for the rationalisation and introduction of these subjects,” the reply stated.
The minister added, “The School Education Department is currently formulating a proposal for the introduction of new subjects in Higher Secondary Schools, including those in District Samba, based on enrollment needs and financial considerations. There is particular demand for the introduction of the Commerce stream.”
