Sajad Lone urges KU to establish exam centres in Kupwara

Says students face hardships travelling over 100 km in harsh winter
Srinagar, Jan 04: People’s Conference (PC) president and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Handwara, Sajad Lone has urged the authorities at Kashmir University to set up examination centres in district Kupwara, saying the students face difficulties due to the absence of such facilities.
Kupwara, the northernmost district of Jammu and Kashmir, lies along the Line of Control (LoC). Lone in a statement said the lack of an examination centre poses a significant barrier to academic excellence, forcing students to travel over 100 kilometres in harsh winter conditions to appear for their exams.
“Travelling such long distances in biting cold is hardly an optimum start for exams. These are non-academic hardships that impact academics and need to be removed,” he said.
The MLA Handwara also pointed out the psychological impact of such difficulties, saying that recall during exams, concentration and writing fluency are all affected by the environment. The added stress of long travel negatively impacts academic performance, making it imperative for the authorities to address this issue, he said.
Lone urged Kashmir University to take immediate steps to establish examination centres in Kupwara and ensure a more conducive environment for students to perform to the best of their abilities. (KNS)
