Jammu, Feb 28: A Pakistani drone breached Indian territory in the border district of Poonch, Jammu region, prompting swift retaliation from the Indian Army.
Army officials confirmed the incident, stating that the intrusion occurred late last night.
“This has now become a routine matter for the last 2-3 weeks,” said Defence PRO, SuneelBartwal, highlighting the frequency of such occurrences. “Three to four such incidents of drones from across the border entering into Indian territory have been reported during the past one month,” he added.
The heightened security alert among Indian troops has led to thwarting each intrusion and drone threat effectively, according to military sources.
In response to the latest breach, Indian Army personnel opened fire on the Pakistani drone as it entered the Indian side in Poonch. Despite heavy firing, the drone managed to retreat to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Following the incident, security forces launched a search operation to ensure that there was no airdropping of weapons or narcotics by the drone.
