Srinagar, June 05: As the global community comes together to address the pressing challenges facing our planet, Srinagar celebrated World Environment Day with the launch of Mission LIFE (Life for environment). The initiative aims to raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility among people from all walks of life regarding environmental conservation.
To mark this significant occasion, a series of programs took place at 144 Bn, CRPF, in Srinagar. A range of activities, including tree plantations, a marathon, repairs of leaking taps and pipes, and a cycle rally, were organized to highlight the importance of preserving our environment. In collaboration with the local public, a cleanliness drive focused on the Dal Lake near the floating market was conducted, resulting in a substantial collection of plastic and non-biodegradable waste and contributing to the improvement of the lake’s cleanliness.
The pinnacle of Mission LIFE was a painting competition held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Zadibal, where school children showcased their artistic talent while expressing their deep emotions towards Mother Earth. The participants received well-deserved recognition and were awarded gifts as a token of appreciation for their remarkable efforts. Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Comdt.-144 Bn, and Dr. Aman Ashraf, Principal of the Higher Secondary School, graced the event as guests of honor.
During his address, Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Comdt., emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment to preserve the earth. He expressed gratitude to all the participants and the school’s Principal for their invaluable contributions to the success of the program. On World Environment Day, all officers and men present took a pledge to actively contribute to the protection of the environment.
The launch of Mission LIFE in Srinagar and the vibrant celebrations of World Environment Day reflect the city’s residents’ commitment to environmental sustainability. These efforts serve as a powerful reminder to individuals worldwide to take responsibility for safeguarding our planet for future generations.
