Srinagar, July 07: In a tragic incident that unfolded this afternoon, two minor girls were rescued while efforts are underway to save another after they drowned in the river Pohru in Jaggerpora village in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
According to officials, the unfortunate event occurred when the three minors attempted to retrieve a pair of slippers that had fallen into the river while they were walking on a bridge constructed over it.
As soon as news of the incident spread, local residents and the police joined forces to launch a joint rescue operation. Fortunately, their efforts paid off as they successfully retrieved two of the girls, ensuring their safety. However, one girl remains unaccounted for at present.
Authorities are now intensifying the rescue operation in a determined bid to locate the missing girl. The search is being conducted with utmost urgency and diligence, as every passing moment is crucial in such situations.
The two girls who were rescued are reported to be from Mughalpora Nagri, while the missing girl is believed to be from Muqam-i-Shahwali Drugmulla.
