Jammu, Sep 19: National Powerlifting Championship concluded in Jammu with over 300 players from 17 states and UTs participated in two-day long events.
Gujrat won maximum medals and remained on the top of medals tally, while Uttar Pradesh on number 2, whereas Haryana on number 3.
It was a proud moment for Jammu that the city of temples hosted the National Championship under the banner of Indian Powerlifting Federation (IPF).
The events were organised at Sai Palace in Trikuta Nagar. The two daylong event was inaugurated by BJP General Secretary (Organisation), Ashok Koul, while DIG Jammu, Shakti Pathak (IPS) was the chief guest in the concluding function where prize distribution was also done.
DIG Jammu, Shakti Pathak, while praising the IPF for organising such a national sports event in Jammu said that it also motivates youth to join sports. He said that addiction of sports is also better than drugs. Pathak, also said that Jammu police already running a campaign against drugs and supporting such sports events in this regard.
Earlier, on the inauguration BJP Gen Secy (Org) Ashok Koul said that such events always attract youth of J&K towards fitness and it is a big thing that Jammu hosted this national championship.
IPF general secretary, Rajan Jain and media secretary Deepak Khajuria thanked the chief guests and all the secretaries, refrees and players for such a huge participation and smooth conducting the championship.
