Jammu, June 30: A five-day basic Civil Defence training programme commenced Monday at the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Ambphalla, Jammu.A statement issued to Rising Kashmir said that organised under the supervision of DySP Zia-ul-Haq, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence Jammu, the training is being attended by 150 ex-servicemen from across Jammu district. The programme focuses on imparting essential life-saving skills, including first aid, fire prevention and control, snakebite management, choking response, and other basic emergency techniques. Special emphasis is also being placed on preparedness during air raids and both natural and man-made disasters. In his address at the inaugural session, Dy. Controller Zia-ul-Haq highlighted the pivotal role of Civil Defence in modern times. He emphasised that disaster preparedness is not solely the responsibility of institutions but a collective social commitment.Paramjit Kumar, Chief Warden, Civil Defence Jammu, also delivered a lecture, outlining the crucial role of Civil Defence wardens in supporting the organisation’s mission. Col. Bhupinder Singh Sambyal of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Jammu, appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Civil Defence team for organising such a meaningful training session.
