With 1.7 million bulbs, Asia’s largest Tulip Garden, located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains here, is all set to be thrown open for the general public on March 26.

However, as per the sources, there will be no grand event like previous year on the opening of the garden in the wake of the holy month of Ramadan.

Javid Masood, In-charge Tulip Garden, speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will throw open the garden for visitors on March 26 after a ribbon-cutting function.

Pertinently, the garden witnessed a record-breaking footfall last year. The authorities have now increased the parking capacity to accommodate more rush of visitors.

“We are expecting a huge footfall of visitors this year also,” Masood said, adding that 4.5 lakh visitors visited the garden last year in just 30 days. “We are prepared to accommodate the record number of visitors this year as well.”

He said 100 gardeners and casual labourers have made hectic efforts to complete all the processes and make the garden ready for the public.

With 1.7 million bulbs, the famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden will have two more varieties imported from the Netherlands this year.

The visitors can avail the benefits of e-tickets, the garden In-charge said.

Tulip Garden earned a spot in the World Book of Records (London) as Asia’s largest in 2023.

In 2024, Asia’s largest Tulip Garden experienced an extraordinary surge in tourism, with a staggering 4.45 lakh visitors flocking to witness its vibrant blooms, including approximately 2,000 from foreign shores—(KNO)
