Handwara, March 25: The associated Government Medical College Handwara gets a massive facelift after modern machinery and two ambulances were provided to the GMC by the ICICI Foundation to provide better healthcare facilities to people in the border area.
Dr. Aijaz Nodal Officer GMC Handwara said he has been in touch with the ICICI Foundation for many months and said the foundation is providing assistance to people in the border area, and they were approached to provide some modern machinery to this hospital after proper verification of credentials. The machinery and ambulances were brought to the hospital today.
He said the machinery will ease the hardships of the people here, adding that they already had machinery and an ambulance at this health center; however, this additional machinery will provide better healthcare facilities to the people of this faraway town.
The doctor, who played an active role in bringing these ambulances and machinery to this hospital, was welcomed by the local health staff, and they hoped that this provided a major relief to the patients here.
“We received machinery sometime back, and today we have received two ambulances that will ease the problem of patients here,” Dr. Aijaz said, adding that they are doing their best to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of this subdivision.
Meanwhile, the locals of the area have expressed their gratitude to Dr. Aijaz for bringing this machinery to this hospital. They said that the two existing ambulances were unable to cater for the rush of patients, and most of the time these ambulances were remaining busy, emergency patients were facing problems after the new stock wouldn’t face the issues, the locals added.
