Ganderbal, Mar 04: The snow clearance operation on the Zojila pass is likely to commence next week, officials said.
According to sources within the Beacon authority, the eagerly awaited snow clearance operation on the Zojila Pass is slated to commence in the coming week, contingent upon favorable weather conditions. Speaking to Rising Kashmir, BRO Sources said that both manpower and machinery stand prepared for the task, with operations scheduled to initiate from the Ranga side of the pass.
The Beacon Official’s emphasized the organization’s longstanding commitment to highway restoration, highlighting years of dedicated efforts. Notably, this year witnessed a remarkable feat as Zojila Pass remained open in record time, with access granted as early as February.
However, challenges persist as reports indicate the accumulation of approximately five to six feet of snow along the pass, coupled with multiple avalanche occurrences in various sections. As plans for snow clearance take shape, decisions regarding the resumption of traffic remain pending.
