Budgam, Apr 15: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) in collaboration with One Stop Centre Budgam conducted a series of camps under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and as part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at various Panchayat Halqas of Block Khansahib.
The event was aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of education for girls and the need to prevent female infanticide and discrimination against girls. The campaign was organized by the DHEW-Mission. Several prominent personalities, including government officials, social activists, and religious leaders, participated in the event.
During the campaign, the team DHEW-MS highlighted the significance of educating girls and the need to provide equal opportunities to both boys and girls. The participants also pledged to work towards creating a safe and supportive environment for girls in their respective communities.
The team DHEW also raised awareness on different schemes like pension schemes, scholarship schemes, prosthetic aids, SMAS and women empowerment schemes such as DHEW, OSC, WHL 181, shelter home, marriage assistance scheme, Ladli Beti, PMMVY, employment generation schemes such as Tajeswani, Mumkin, PMEGP, etc.
The team also gave detailed information on how DHEW-Mission Shakti is playing an effective role by providing awareness/training among young female folks to generate self-employment by taking advantage of available schemes at the district level.
Continuing the programme, the team raised awareness of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) , its ill effects, causes and treatment. They briefed the participants of the initiative Drug De Addiction Centre and rehabilitation centre which plays an important role to make drug addicts free of addiction.
The treatment-cum-rehabilitation centers provide services to the community such as awareness generation, identification of addicts, motivational counseling, detoxification/ de-addiction, vocational rehabilitation, aftercare and re-integration into the social mainstream and preventive education.
At the end of the programme, many parents showed their support for the cause by enrolling their daughters in schools. The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign has been instrumental in changing the mindset of people and promoting gender equality in the country. 30 blankets were distributed among girl children under the BBBP initiative.
