Jammu, Dec 14: To enhance the interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence of police officers, a three-day course titled “Developing Effective Communication, Skills, Behaviour, Attitude, and Responsibility towards the General Public” commenced at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) here. Fourteen officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police are actively participating in this training program, which aims to equip them with essential tools for effective communication and self-leadership within the police organization.
The course inaugurated at the SKPA in Udhampur is designed to address key objectives, with a special focus on the framework of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, emotional self-control, and expression. Recognizing the relevance of soft skills in the context of policing, the program covers stress and time management for self-leadership within the police organization. Eminent guest faculty members from various academic institutions have been invited to ensure the success of the program and the achievement of its intended goals. The comprehensive curriculum aims to equip police officers with the skills necessary to navigate complex and challenging situations while maintaining a positive and effective approach towards the general public.
The inaugural function, graced by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor) as the Chief Guest, emphasized the imperative need for police personnel to adapt their behaviour and attitude towards the general public. Gupta highlighted the crucial role of communication skills in conveying thoughts and ideas and effectively managing conflict situations.
The coordination of the course is overseen by Sukhvir Singh, DySP, AD (Admn), with assistance from SI Irshad Ahmed, a faculty member at SKPA. The active participation of officers in this training program underscores the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to fostering a professional and community-oriented police force.
