Ganderbal, July 02: A devastating fire broke out during the intervening night at a shopping complex in the main market area of Kangan, causing extensive damage to several shops , however no loss of human life has been reported, officials said.The shopping complex, owned jointly by Bashir Ahmad Khan, son of Gh. Nabi Khan, and his four brothers—all residents of Kangan—was engulfed in flames around midnight. Local residents, police, and fire tenders swiftly responded to the emergency and managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread further.According to initial reports, the fire gutted multiple shops within the complex, including A grocery shop owned by Bashir Ahmad Khan, A shoe shop run by Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Noor Mohammad Bhat, resident of Rainawari, Srinagar, A gas supply outlet managed by Farooq Ahmad Khan, son of Gh. Nabi Khan, A ready-made garments shop owned by Nawab Ahmad Khan, son of Ab. Majeed Khan, A mobile accessories shop run by Khursheed Ahmad Khan, A restaurant operated by Naif Ahmad Khan, son of Ab. Majeed KhanAuthorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. While the monetary value of the losses is yet to be assessed.
