Jammu, July 01: Apni Party provincial president Jammu and former minister S. Manjit Singh has demanded the holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir following the completion of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
“The security situation has normalized for the last several years and tourism has witnessed a boom both in Jammu and Kashmir. In the emerging situation, the Election Commission of India should not delay the holding of the assembly elections in J&K,” Manjit Singh said while addressing a monthly meeting of party leaders, and workers here at Vijaypur.
He said that recently the Government of India had successfully organized a G20 summit in Srinagar and accordingly, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is being held in J&K that proves that the situation is very much suitable for the assembly elections that should be conducted without denying it further after the conclusion of the above said yatra.
“As the people are in great distress, and feeling of despair is increasing day by day in the absence of an elected government. The bureaucracy has not been able to continue with the process of development that has led to the feeling of alienation among the people,” he added.
The Apni Party leader said the administration has not been able to win the confidence of the people with its failure to conduct transparent recruitment processes, stalled development, no accountability, no public grievance redressal monitoring at ground level, rural/urban areas without proper clean drinking water and electricity supply.
“The issues of border villagers, irrigational, refugees, displaced persons, proprietary rights, agricultural issues, growing unemployment, declining health care facilities, poor educational facilities, etc still to be addressed even as several years have passed,” he said while highlighting the issues confronted by the people.
He said the restoration of the democratic system will end the growing concerns of the people in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Singh referred to various other issues regarding the strengthening of the party in the Samba district, blocks and village level. He directed the party cadre to work on the ground and highlight the issues of the people for the early redressal and intensify their door-to-door campaign.
