Acting tough against the social crimes, police have arrested 06 gamblers in Kulgam and seized stake money from their possession.
A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific information about gambling activities at public place at Akhran, a police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar raided the gambling site and arrested 06 gamblers on the spot.
” They have been identified as Mohd Younis Machoo son of Wali Mohd Machoo resident of Akhran, Mohd Ishaq Shan son of Mohd Maqbool Shan resident of Akhran, Lateef Ahmad Sofi son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi resident of Wanpoh, Altaf Ahmad Dar son of Gull Mohd Dar resident of Battachloo Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Afzal Wani resident of Monghal Furrah and Ajaz Ahmad Shan son of Abdul Rehman Shan resident of Nowpora”, he said.
Officers have seized stake money of ₹10,000/-, 06 Mobile Phones and playing cards from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
