Jammu, Dec 26: National Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former minister, Priya Sethi on Tuesday highlighted the empowerment of women through various schemes introduced by the Modi government.
Addressing the Nari Sammelan organized by the J&K Prajapati Sabha, Sethi underscored the positive impact of BJP’s initiatives on the welfare of women in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. She emphasized that these schemes have significantly improved the quality of life, education, and financial independence of women, fostering an environment of equality and growth.
She criticized the discriminatory policies of past regimes, particularly those led by Kashmir-based parties, which neglected and created disparities in opportunities and rights for women in the region. Sethi commended the Modi government for addressing historical injustices and striving to ensure that women in Jammu and Kashmir receive the same benefits and opportunities as those in other parts of the country.
Priya Sethi applauded the J&K Prajapati Sabha for organizing the Nari Sammelan annually, aiming to create awareness among women about various government schemes for their betterment. She praised the Sabha for actively addressing social issues such as female foeticide, women’s empowerment, education, and the eradication of domestic harassment.
The BJP leader highlighted the Modi government’s flagship schemes, including Ujjawala Yojana, Sukanya scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, One Stop Centre Scheme, Women Helpline Scheme, Nari Shakti Puraskar, 33 per cent reservation in politics for women, Mahila Shakti Kendras (MSK), Nirbhaya, and efforts to curb Triple Talaq. She affirmed the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment across the nation.
Ayodhya Manhawar, President of Prajapati Sabha J&K, emphasized Sabha’s pivotal role in educating society on various social issues, fostering awareness, and initiating dialogue on critical challenges. Manhawar highlighted the Sabha’s contributions to societal development, gender equality, education for the underprivileged, and the eradication of social stigmas, making a more cohesive and inclusive community.
