Srinagar, Mar 11: In the run-up to the upcoming parliamentary elections, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister has urged the people to use their votes with “utmost social responsibility” and elect honest and trusted candidates, having the goodwill and faith of the society. He said the era of exploitative politics and deceit has gone, adding that the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be hoodwinked now like in the past.
Speaking at the workers’ convention of Raithan, Kechwari, and Gurwaith areas of Khansahib constituency in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, Hakeem asked the people to vote for candidates who are sincere to people’s aspirations and have a good performance and report card.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir were confronting a severe identity crisis and trust deficit as never before that needs to be addressed and restored with solemn commitment,” he said, adding that previous regimes have failed to keep up promises made to the people.
“They bartered with the overall interests of Jammu and Kashmir and its people during the last seven decades, to build castles and fortunes for them and their dynasties,” Yaseen said, adding that the need of the hour was to make the right choice of candidates who are dedicated and sincere to meet their aspirations and the general cause.
The PDF Chairman asked the workers to make the people aware of the dubious character of those candidates who were sent by them to the Parliament with high hopes but forgot their mandate while sitting in the luxurious ivory towers. “They compromised with the interests of the people blatantly,” he said.
