J&K political leaders pay tribute to Imam Hussain (AS), recall his supreme sacrifice

Srinagar, Jul 05: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah, on the solemn observance of Youm-e-Ashura, recalled the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions at the Battle of Karbala as a timeless symbol of courage, faith, and resistance against tyranny.In a statement issued here, Dr Abdullah said that the unparalleled sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Aali Muqam (AS) and his companions remains a guiding light for all humanity. “Imam Hussain (AS) is not the legacy of a particular sect, but a universal figure whose steadfastness, sacrifice, and moral integrity continue to inspire generations. His resistance against injustice and oppression carries an eternal message of hope, justice, and dignity,” he said.He added, “The martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) teaches us that those who uphold truth and righteousness achieve immortality, while tyrants, regardless of their temporary victories, are ultimately condemned by history. May the observance of Youm-e-Ashura lead us all towards peace, harmony, and spiritual renewal, not only in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, but across the country.

Javed Rana

Minister Javed Ahmed Rana paid rich tributes to Imam Hussain (AS), describing him as the embodiment of courage, sacrifice and steadfastness, and the noble martyrs of Karbala.In a poignant message, Rana expressed his deep reverence for the unparalleled sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions, who chose martyrdom over submission to injustice, upholding the highest principles of truth, dignity and justice.The minister highlighted that Imam Hussain’s (AS) unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and faith is a beacon of inspiration for humanity.“His legacy transcends sects, regions and eras, inspiring generations to stand firm against falsehood and uphold human dignity,” he said. “The values of sacrifice, patience and truthfulness embodied by Imam Hussain (AS) are particularly relevant today, when societies face moral and social challenges.”Rana prayed that the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala continue to illuminate the path of righteousness and guide humanity towards compassion, peace, and harmony.He emphasised the importance of reflecting on the message of Karbala and renewing our commitment to principles of justice, equality and peaceful coexistence.The minister highlighted the significance of Imam Hussain’s (AS) sacrifice, inspiring humanity to uphold the values of unity, social harmony and righteousness. He extended prayers for peace, harmony and the well-being of the people, emphasising the importance of building a just and equitable society.

Sakeena Itoo

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo paid rich tributes to the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala.In her tribute, Itoo said that the supreme sacrifices by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions at Karbala exemplify unmatched courage and patience, which will continue to enlighten mankind. “The lesson that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions taught us of not bowing or succumbing before forces of evil is the guiding light for all entire mankind,” Sakeena said.The minister urged people to follow the principles of the martyrs of Karbala for establishing a just society, which symbolises unity and love for each other. She prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the entire Jammu and Kashmir.

Ashok Koul

Ashok Koul, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, participated in the 9th Muharram procession in Budgam, extending a gesture of solidarity with the Shia Muslim community. During the procession, he also distributed water to the participants as a mark of respect and service.Speaking on the occasion, Koul said, “Muharram is a time of deep reflection and remembrance. It teaches us about sacrifice, truth, and standing up for justice. Today, we stand with our Shia brothers and sisters in honouring the legacy of Imam Hussain (AS), whose message transcends religion and speaks to all of humanity.”Koul was accompanied by BJP Budgam District President Ghazi Rahullah, district team member Mudabir Baba, and other senior party leaders.

On the solemn occasion of 10th Muharram (Ashura), the Awami Ittehaad Party (AIP) paid heartfelt tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala, describing their sacrifice as an everlasting symbol of truth, resistance, and moral strength.AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said, “Karbala is not just a historical event—it is a moral compass for humanity. Imam Hussain (AS) chose sacrifice over silence, dignity over compromise.”He added that the lessons of Karbala remain a guiding light in times of moral crisis, reminding us to stand firm for justice and uphold the values of truth, courage, and compassion.
