Srinagar, Jul 03: National Conference (NC) Women’s Wing President and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Habba Kadal, Shameema Firdous on Thursday said the Omar Abdullah-led administration is taking concrete steps to restore Srinagar city’s glory.
During her tour of the Habba Kadal constituency, Shameema inspected civic conditions and reviewed services such as drinking water and ration supplies. She took note of local grievances and resolved several issues on the spot by contacting relevant departments, the party said in a statement issued here
“Srinagar has been off the development radar for nearly a decade. No new water schemes, no infrastructure upgrades, no attention to the basic needs of people. The Omar Abdullah-led government is reversing that neglect and working tirelessly to bring Srinagar back into focus,” she said.
The NC leader criticised the previous Smart City initiatives as “cosmetic touches and paint job that did little to improve the quality of life”. “There’s nothing smart about painted roads when people still don’t have clean water, working drains. Our people deserve better,” she said.
Firdous said, “It was under previous NC governments that foundational infrastructure was established in Srinagar, including water treatment plants and other civic facilities. Since 2015, it’s been all talk. But now with Omar sahib at the helm of affairs, people of Srinagar will heave a sigh of relief.”
The MLA said Omar-led government is committed to genuine development that prioritises essential services and quality of life. “The NC government is focused on delivering results,” she added.
