Srinagar, Apr 29: The Janata Dal (United) said several prominent leaders from the National Conference (NC) joined the party on Tuesday in the presence of its Jammu & Kashmir president, G M Shaheen.
Speaking on the occasion, the newly joined leaders expressed their confidence in the progressive policies of the JD(U), including initiatives like alcohol prohibition and various people-centric programmes aimed at social development, the JDU said in a statement issued here.
Welcoming the new entrants, Shaheen said, “The doors of the Janata Dal (United) are open to all individuals who believe in honest, practical politics and are committed to the development of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of the region have shown growing trust in JD(U)’s policies and its commitment to real change.”
The JD(U) leader reiterated the party’s promise to fulfil all commitments made in the manifesto. “Our party stands for practical work—we have never lied to the people. What we say, we do,” he said.
Highlighting the need for development in the region, Shaheen called upon the people of Kashmir to come forward and work collectively for a better, more educated and progressive society.
He encouraged young people to join the JD(U) and contribute to building a better future for Jammu and Kashmir. “Youth are the strength of our nation, and we welcome their energy and ideas into our party,” he added.
