Srinagar, March 15: The Chinar Open Winter Games 2025, a flagship initiative of the Indian Army, concluded on a high note amid the breathtaking snow-covered landscapes of Gulmarg on Saturday. Organised by the Pir Panjal Brigade of the Dagger Division, the event was a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, community spirit, and youth empowerment.
Held in the majestic Pir Panjal Ranges, the Games provided an inspiring platform for Kashmiri youth to showcase their talent and engage in competitive winter sports. This edition witnessed record-breaking participation, with 634 athletes competing across 18 events. Among them, 167 were girls and 467 boys, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for winter sports in the region.
The event featured an exhilarating lineup of skiing races, snowboarding, and ice skating, with participants pushing their limits against some of the best athletes from the region. Large and enthusiastic crowds gathered to witness the thrilling performances, further igniting interest in Kashmir’s emerging winter sports scene. Beyond the sporting competitions, the Games fostered deeper community engagement through outreach programmes, highlighting the Indian Army’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing young talent. As the Chinar Open Winter Games 2025 concluded, it stood as a testament to Kashmir’s rising sporting spirit and its growing reputation as a premier winter sports hub in India.
