Scores of people gathered in Kulgam town on Tuesday evening to hold a candlelight vigil denouncing the recent killings of Kashmir Pandit in the area.

The peaceful protest, attended by traders, transporters, and civil society members, was held in response to the innocent killing of a member of the Pandit community in Pulwama.

The demonstration aimed to draw attention to the ongoing violence against minority groups in Kashmir and demand justice for the victims.

The protesters termed the killings of minority members as a collective loss to society.

Muneeb Ahmad Zargar, President of Municipal Council (MC) Kulgam told reporters that killing any innocent civilian is a highly condemnable act and no religion on earth teaches like this.

“We stand in solidarity with the Pandit community in this hour of grief and it’s our collective loss. Innocent killings have no space in our society,” he said.

He appealed to the LG government to protect the minority community here so that they can live freely and without any fear.

“We as a whole civil society oppose the killing of an innocent civilian which took place at Pulwama,” he added.
