Srinagar, Oct: in a heartfelt event organised by the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) at Congress Bhawan on Maulana Azad Road, Srinagar, members and volunteers gathered to honor the memory of Anna, a young professional who tragically took her own life due to workplace stress. The event, led by AIPC’s State Head, Sanjay Sapru, was attended by numerous volunteers from various regions, who came together in solidarity not only for Anna but also for those who continue to suffer in toxic work environments.
Anna’s suicide case, which gained widespread attention, highlighted the mental and emotional toll of workplace stress in today’s competitive corporate culture. Anna was a bright and promising professional, but constant pressure and unhealthy work conditions led her to take the drastic step of ending her life. Her tragic story sparked conversations around mental health in workplaces, underscoring the urgent need for reforms to support employees’ mental well-being.
The All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) is the professional wing of the Indian National Congress, aiming to provide a platform for professionals across sectors to engage in policy-making and advocate for a better, more inclusive future. By organizing events like these, the AIPC seeks to address crucial social issues, such as mental health awareness in the workplace, and foster a culture of support and collaboration. AIPC has organised country wide events to highlight the issues faced by professionals and in support of Anna.
Speaking at the event, Sanjay Sapru emphasized the importance of ensuring that workplaces provide not just financial sustenance but also a healthy, positive environment for employees to thrive. “Anna’s story should never have been written,” Sapru said, “We must create systems where people can openly seek help and be supported in times of need.” The AIPC plans to continue its advocacy for workplace reforms, mental health support, and creating safer work environments for professionals across India.
