Srinagar, Oct 26: Team Downtown-11 lifted the trophy of H. Hub Tiger’s and Golden Brands U-19 Triangular Series by defeating Wazapora-11 in finals played at Gani Memorial Stadium, Srinagar.
Wazapora-11 won the toss and elected to bat first. From the start Downtown-11 put a lot of pressure on Wazapora-11 and kept the match under their control.
Captain Atif took two wickets, Umar also took two wickets and despite all hard work of all the bowlers, Wazapora-11 were bowled out for 109.
When the Downtown-11 came out to bat, the top order as well as the middle order failed.
Captain of Wazapora-11 Ibrahim bowled attackingly and guided six players from Downtown-11 to pavilion, but his team failed to support him. But as soon as Captain Atif and Arsal came to the crease, the spectators got to see sensible cricket.
Both these players played an innings of 85 runs and led their team to victory.
Many awards were distributed in the final match. Skipper Atif was awarded Man-of-the-match while Umar Farooq was awarded Man-of-the-series for his best performance.
Director Sports Kashmir University Basharat Ali was the chief guest on the occasion while Qazli Construction owner Tahir Qazli and Jaan and Sons owner Jaan were guests of honor.
Speaking on the occasion Basharat Ali said it is a good initiative. Sports is the only way to keep youth at bay from drug related activities. Asif Rashid, Golden Brands, said, “Out of 48 participants 16 players were selected for seperate club H.Hub Tigers and Golden Brands.” The Triangular series was organised by the Golden Brands and H. Hub Tigers.
