Jammu, Jan 26: State Taxes & Excise Departments today celebrated the 74th Republic Day with great patriotic zeal and fervor at State Taxes & Excise Complex here. The event commenced with the unfurling of Tricolor by Commissioner State Taxes, Dr. Rashmi Singh followed by singing of the national anthem.
Dr. Rashmi Singh while speaking on the occasion emphasized on valuable contributions of freedom fighters and said the celebration is a tribute to those who participated in freedom movement. She urged everyone to abide by the rules set forth in the Constitution and preserving the integrity of the Republican nation.
To mark the occasion, she also remembered Rabindranath Tagore by reciting his poem “Where the mind is without fear”. “India is in our blood and wearing a multi-coloured turban symbolises the diversity of our nation,” she said.
Excise Commissioner, Pankaj Sharma; Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Tax Planning Policy and Advance Ruling), Ankita Kar; Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Administration and Enforcement), Jammu, Namrita Dogra; Deputy Commissioners State Taxes and officers and officials of State Taxes and Excise Department also attended the event.
