Jammu, Dec 17: Bhartiya Janata Party state president Ravinder Raina Saturday that Home Minister Amit Shah and LG Manoj Sinha are deeply pained over the civilian killings in Rajouri town.
After meeting the family members of the slain individuals in Rajouri, Raina told media persons: “I have discussed the Rajouri episode with both Home Minister Amit Shah and LG Manoj Sinha and both of them are in deep stress over the innocent killings. They have taken a strong cognisance of this matter and want a proper enquiry conducted into these killings”.
“I also had words with DGP Jammu and Kashmir Dilbagh Singh and GOC-in-C-Northern Command. Both the army and police officers want this entire matter investigated through a high-level team,” Raina said.
He said the Army has assured to conduct a court of enquiry the way it was conducted during the killings of some Rajouri youth in Shopian and the police chief has also assured to provide justice to the family members of the poor canteen workers after a fair and transparent enquiry.
Reposing faith in the law of the land, Raina said, “whosoever involved in the killings will have to face the consequences. Our laws aren’t made such that the powerful will go scot free. The guilty will be punished”.
Raina said that LG Manoj Sinha also had words with one of the family members of the deceased men and has assured him to provide justice.
LG announces Rs 5 lakh for kin of Rajouri firing victims
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of victims of the Rajouri firing that happened on Friday.
“The incident in Rajouri is very unfortunate. Condolences to the bereaved families. The price of a life cannot be set in monetary terms but still, I announce an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh for each affected family,” L-G Sinha said in a tweet. Two individuals lost their lives after unidentified terrorists opened fire on Friday morning near Military Hospital in Rajouri.
The Indian Army has informed that the police, security forces and civil administration officials are currently at the site.
“In an early morning firing incident by unidentified terrorists at Rajouri near Military Hospital, there has been fatal casualty of two individuals. The Police, security forces and civil administration officials are on the site,” the Army’s White Knight Corps tweeted on Friday.
