Four thieves held in Kulgam, stolen property worth lakhs recovered: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested four thieves in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered stolen property worth lakhs including Maruti-800 from their possession.

 

 

A Police spokesperson said, “On 02.05.2023 a written complaint was received by police station Kulgam from Altaf Hussain Mir S/O Ali Mohd Mir R/O Qadirpora, Bungam Kulgam stating therein that his vehicle Maruti-800 (white colour) was stolen by some unknown thieves during the night hours from Astan Gali Kulgam.”

 

 

He said that regarding the incident, Case FIR No 87/2023 U/S 379 IPC was registered and investigation was taken up and again on 06.05.2023 another written complaint was received at police station Kulgam from Suhail Ahmad Wagay S/O Gulzar Ahmad Wagay R/O Goripora Mohalla, Kulgam stating therein that during the night intervening between 21/22 April-2023 unknown thieves have stolen Batteries of his Vehicle and other vehicles near Jamia masjid Kulgam. In this connection case with FIR No 91/2023 U/S 379 IPC was registered at police station Kulgam. 

 

“Taking cognisance of the matter, Police intensified its Patrolling and surveillance activities to put stop on these burglaries and accordingly a team headed by SHO Kulgam under the supervision DYSP HQRS Kulgam was constituted who subsequently prepared a list of suspects and while questioning of these suspect ,four culprits of this crime have been identified as Mujeeb-ur-Rehman@Faheem Sofi S/O Abdul Rahman Sofi R/O Astan Mohalla, Kulgam, Danish Ahmad Ahanger S/O Ghulam Nabi Ahanger R/O Reshipora, Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Mohd Dar R/O Redwani, Kulgam and Aashiq Hussain Lone S/O Abdul Rashid Lone R/O Naibasti Qaimoh”, he said.

 

During the interrogation they have confessed their involvement in commission of the said crime and on their disclosure stolen property including Maruti-800 and 04 Batteries were recovered from their possession. Further investigation in the case is in progress as more recoveries of stolen property is expected.
