Ganderbal, Jammu 21: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday visited the families affected by landslides in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah visited Rezan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district where more than a dozen residential houses and shops besides Cowsheds were damaged due to heavy landslide Struck on Sunday.
He was accompanied by Party Provisional President Nasir Aslam Wani and Tanvir Sadiq.
During his visit Dr. Farooq Abdullah met with affected families where people apprised him about hardships being faced by them.
Locals asked the Member of Parliament that the road being built for the Z-Morh tunnel from upper reaches of the town has endangered the lives of the residents but still the construction work went on while the results are in front of everyone.
Senior Abdullah expressed his solidarity with the affected families and assured them that the matter will be raised with Central government.
While talking to the Media Dr Farooq Abdullah said the people had already informed administration about the land sinking due to the construction of road for the Z-morph Tunnel.
He urged the administration to provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected families. “I appeal to the government to relocate these families to safer places,” he told Reporters.
About nine houses were damaged in the landslide on Sunday night. Besides damaging the houses, the incident left 14 domestic animals dead.
