The body of a non-local resident, who drowned yesterday evening, was retrieved from the Jhelum River in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Monday morning.
A police official stated that after a 12-hour-long rescue operation, the joint teams of police, SDRF, army with the help of locals successfully recovered the body of a non-local resident from the Jhelum River.
The deceased was identified as Surendra Prasad, a resident of Babhanauli Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Police reported that the non-local resident tragically drowned in the Jhelum River at Bohropora Sopore on Sunday evening.
Following the incident, a joint effort involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the police was initiated for the rescue operation on Sunday.
The police official further added that the body has been taken to the hospital for necessary medical and legal formalities.
