Srinagar, Mar 10: Mohammad Rafiq Pandit, a retired inspector renowned for his social activism and unwavering commitment to public service, has officially joined the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was welcomed by party president Mehbooba Mufti.
The occasion was marked by a ceremonial event attended by District President Pulwama Bari Andrabi, Gh Mohidin Wachi, Youth President PDP Waheed ur Rehman Para, former MLA Anjum Fazli, Qayoom Bhat, Arif Laigaroo, Bashir Beigh and others, the party said in a statement issued here.
Rafiq Pandit, hailed as a prominent activist in Karimabad Pulwama, emphasised the strategic significance of his decision, stating, “My allegiance to the PDP stems from a deeply rooted dedication to the welfare and progress of Pulwama’s populace. I firmly believe that under the astute leadership of Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP offers the most effective platform to address the multifaceted challenges confronting our region and propel it towards a brighter future.”
Mufti, in her welcoming address, underscored the importance of Rafiq Pandit’s entry into the PDP fold, remarking, “The addition of Mohammad Rafiq Pandit to our party exemplifies our commitment to inclusivity and grassroots representation. His formidable reputation as a social activist and his extensive experience in public service will undoubtedly enrich our party’s endeavours to uplift Pulwama and empower its citizens.”
Meanwhile, DDC member Behibagh, Kulgam Ruby Jan joined PDP on Sunday in Kulgam, the statement said.
