In a significant move to counter the growing menace of drug abuse, Police in Handwara arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A Spokesperson said that a Police party of Police Post Magam during night patrolling in Devaspora Magam intercepted a suspicious person identified as Zubair Sultan Lone son of Mohammad Sultan Lone resident of Khanbal Handwara. During search, 12 grams of Heroin was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he has been arrested and a case under relevant provisions of law was registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated.
J&K Police emphasized upon general public to cooperate in the fight against drug-related crimes to get rid from the menace of drugs. Citizens are encouraged to report nearest Police Station or contact through helpline 112 if any suspicious activities or instances related to drugs are noticed for prompt and timely action from the Police.
