Budgam, Oct 08: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference party has successfully secured victory in all five assembly seats within the Budgam Constituencies.
Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, the NC candidate for the Beerwah constituency, received 20,118 votes, defeating AIP-backed Nazir Ahmad Khan by a margin of 4,161 votes.
Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of the National Conference and candidate for the Budgam Constituency, garnered 36,010 votes, surpassing PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi by 18,485 votes.
In Charar-i-Sharief Constituency, NC candidate Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather achieved 35,957 votes, defeating PDP candidate Ghulam Nabi Lone by 11,496 votes.
Similarly, in Chadoora Constituency, National Conference candidate Ali Mohammad Dar secured 31,991 votes, overcoming PDP candidate Mohmad Yaseen Bhat by 17,218 votes.
In Khansahib Constituency, NC candidate Saif-ud-din Bhat received 33,225 votes, defeating former Minister and PDF Chairman Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen Shah by 11,614 votes.
Speaking to reporters outside the counting center at the Budgam district headquarters, Omar Abdullah expressed his commitment to working for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“For the past five years, there have been efforts to diminish the National Conference party in Jammu and Kashmir. Certain political parties were established with the primary aim of undermining the National Conference at the grassroots level,” Omar stated.
He emphasized that those attempting to weaken the National Conference at the local level have not succeeded in the elections. He said, “Our responsibilities have now increased; it is our duty to work for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the next five years.”
